Conceptually alternatives may be difficult to grasp. We hope to raise the consciousness of society to understand that 'defence' may be both creative as well as destructive; that both ideas are as real to the human psyche... but, in the main, it is the idea of 'destructive defence' that has materialized and is highly organized.

WE'RE SENDING OUT AN S-O-S​
When our Sense-of Self is based in the material world, we tend to resort to a 'destructive defence' mechanism... and are often willing to kill for what we believe.

When our Sense-of-Self is based not on a this-is-me-because-this-is-mine (material) foundation, but rather on a spiritual foundation (we are all brothers and sisters), we find a phenomenal change... and we are willing to die for what we believe.
UNLOCK YOUR HEART
Many people live behind locked doors and barred windows, afraid to venture outside for fear of being robbed or worse. When asked if this is the way they want to live they report "that is the way the world is today". When asked further "Is this the kind of world you want for your children?" they usually reply "No."

When the same people are asked "What kind of character would need to be embodied in the people of your community for a world to exist where you did not have to lock your doors and bar your windows?", with a little prompting, many people will concede the character of Jesus. However, while the matter of 'character development' is recognized, because it requires participation, very often the individual opts for buying-the-lock. Unfortunately, the more we buy-into-the-lock... the harder our hearts become to recognizing the 'key' to our 'problem'. The more we 'invest' in the lock, while we think we profit, the world becomes worse.

BULLY FOR YOU?
Transferring our message to a societal context; our sense of who we are as a nation; If our identity as a country, our national security, is dependent solely upon a destructive defence system, and we are getting our way in the world only because of our might... in terms of character what are we?
What we are NOT saying
We are Not advocating for the abolishment of our police or armed forces. We are NOT questioning the motive of individuals who choose to serve their country in this way... just as it may be valuable to have physical prowess and martial arts training TO HOLD OUR LOVED ONES APART when they are at-each-others'-throats. What we are advocating is that at least AS MUCH focus be given to develop CREATIVE DEFENCE.
OH, BROTHER!
While outwardly recognizing a doctrine-of-unity, that we are ultimately all brothers and sisters, helps in finding resolution to issues, it does not guarantee things will always be peaceful in our 'family'. We can draw from the story of Cain and Abel, and others, to gain wisdom of the effort we must make to internalize the values of a spiritual self.

GET THE WORD OUT
The Word is powerful in bringing into being what might otherwise remain a thought. By talking about character development and what our actions truly reveal about what we base our sense-of-self upon can help raise social consciousness and focus. For many it will be a frightening experience of letting the only sense-of-self they have ever known die; and these people we must reassure that the 'new' world that we hope to cultivate ... is heaven. We do not want your money; this is a call to action. Talk about it, wear a home-made t-shirt... SUPPORT THE CREATIVE DEFENCE MOVEMENT: Put down weapons of war / Pick up tools of peace. Maybe you can come up with your own  artistic representation of what the motto might look like as a picture on the shirt!
THE OPPOSITION
In the time of Jesus a significant portion of the economy was involved in making shields, swords, spears and other weapons. And the language of war developed along with it. When Jesus beckoned that people did not have to be fighting each other, he became a threat to their financial income... and, thus, their enemy. Expect the same opposition to our message, and appreciate the fear from which it is borne.
THE LANGUAGE OF WAR VERSUS THE LANGUAGE OF PEACE
The language of war is counter to the language of peace by design. If we enter into negotiation of some conflict hoping for resolution we would be best advised to employ the language-of-peace. Remember, true peace is NOT the fear of who has the bigger stick.
